A one-night dash usually means arriving into a closed city and leaving before Sarnath, the temples, or a proper sunrise on the Ganga. A four-day group departure solves that.

Day 1 — 22 November: arrive and see the Aarti

Day 2 — 23 November: the river at sunrise, then the temples

The second morning starts early with a traditional sunrise boat. From the water, Manikarnika, Dashashwamedh, and the curve of the ghats read as one city instead of a crush of lanes. After the boat, the group goes for Kashi Vishwanath darshan. Sugam darshan tickets are included. Temple rules, queues, and the time you actually spend inside still depend on the day — that is stated plainly in the tour notes, because Dev Deepawali week is not a quiet week.

Breakfast and a rest come next. The temple circuit then takes in Kaal Bhairav, Sankat Mochan Hanuman Temple, Durga Temple, Tulsi Manas Temple, and the BHU area with New Vishwanath Temple when the clock allows. Food is part of the day: kachori-sabzi, jalebi, and lassi, the Banarasi plate visitors actually eat. Day 3 — 24 November: keep the morning empty

The festival day is deliberately slow until afternoon. Breakfast at the hotel, an early lunch, and a 3:00 PM call to get ready. Varanasi restricts movement around Dev Deepawali. The tour coordinator’s reporting time is not a suggestion. The group is assisted onto the Dev Deepawali boat, with snacks and water during the ride. The point of being on the river is to see the 84 ghats as a single band of light, then the fireworks and laser show if the official programme goes ahead. Dinner is at the hotel once the group can move back through traffic.

Day 4 — 25 November: Sarnath, then home

After the late night, the last morning stays gentle: breakfast, check-out, and the drive to Sarnath. Dhamek Stupa, Chaukhandi Stupa, and the Archaeological Museum are the Buddhist chapter of the same trip, about 10 kilometres from the ghats. The vehicle then drops you at the airport or railway station against your departure time.

Why the dates are fixed

Hotels on the river, sugam darshan slots, and festival boats are booked against this departure, not against an open calendar. The itinerary can still shift if the administration changes routes or the river is closed. Guest safety and local instructions come before the printed order of the day.
